This year, five classic blockbuster, star-studded Super Bowl spots representing “Bigger is Better” face off against five smaller, simple yet powerful spots that represent the argument “Less is More.” The special will be hosted by Boomer Esiason, analyst for CBS Sports’ NFL pre-game show THE NFL TODAY, and Daniela Ruah, star of CBS’ NCIS: LOS ANGELES, and will originate from NRG Stadium in Houston, home of “Super Bowl LI.”

In addition, Kevin Frazier, co-host of “Entertainment Tonight,” will report from country artist Kane Brown’s concert at The House of Blues in Houston. Also, Frazier will sit down with supermodel Cindy Crawford to look back at her famous 1992 Pepsi commercial on its 25th anniversary. Viewers will also get an exclusive behind-the-scenes look at how their favorite spots are made.

Boomer Esiason, who quarterbacked the Cincinnati Bengals, New York Jets and Arizona Cardinals during a 14-year NFL career, joined CBS Sports in February 2002 as a studio analyst for THE NFL TODAY, the CBS Television Network’s NFL pre-game show. He joins host James Brown, Bill Cowher, Tony Gonzalez and Bart Scott in the studio. In addition, Esiason serves as an analyst on INSIDE THE NFL on SHOWTIME, as well as a contributor on NFL MONDAY QB on the CBS Sports Network.

Upon retiring after the 1997 season, Esiason headed straight for the broadcast booth. He made his debut as a commentator for ABC’s NFL “Monday Night Football,” and called “MNF” games for two years. For the past 15 years, he has called games for Westwood One Radio Sports “Monday Night Football” broadcasts, teaming with Marv Albert for eight of those years. Once again this year, he teams up with Kevin Harlan on the “MNF” radio broadcasts. Esiason debuted as host of WFAN’s national weekday morning radio show “Boomer and Carton in the Morning” on September 4, 2007. Also, he was a weekly contributor for Bleacher Report’s “Behind the Mic,” and he hosted “The Boomer Esiason Show” on Madison Square Garden Network for eight years. During the 2001 season, he served as an analyst on Fox Sports Net’s “NFL This Morning.” Currently, he contributes daily commentary to CBS Sports Radio’s CBS SPORTS MINUTE, is a weekly guest during the NFL season on 98.5 “The Sports Hub” in Boston, and is a weekly contributor with commentary to Sports Illustrated’s SI.com.

Throughout his career, Esiason, along with his wife, Cheryl, has been a committed and active participant in many charitable causes, including the Boomer Esiason Foundation, established in 1993 to fight cystic fibrosis after his son, Gunnar, was diagnosed with the disease. To date, the foundation has raised over $125 million.

Esiason was born April 17, 1961 in West Islip, N.Y., and lives in Plandome, N.Y. with his wife, their daughter, Sydney, and their son.

Prior to starring in NCIS: LOS ANGELES, Daniela Ruah appeared in several television shows in Portugal, including “Dancing with the Stars,” which she won. In the U.S., she made her big screen debut in the George Lucas-produced film “Red Tails.”

In her spare time, Ruah helps raise money for the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals and for Project Have Hope, a charity that helps women in Uganda improve their lives and the lives of their families by ensuring their children receive a quality education.

Ruah was born in Boston and moved to Portugal at age 5 with her family, where she became fluent in Portuguese. She attended university in London for three years and soon after moved to New York to pursue her acting career.

THE ELUSIVE MOLE KIDNAPS ONE OF THE NCIS AGENTS AND HETTY GOES ROGUE, ON “NCIS: LOS ANGELES,” SUNDAY, JAN. 29

Read this fascinating new interview with Daniela Ruah and Eric Christian Olsen, conducted by Glamour magazine.

NCIS: Los Angeles is not typically known for wading into This Is Us territory. After all, it’s a hugely successful procedural drama about the high-stakes world of a division of NCIS (Naval Criminal Investigative Service) that captures dangerous criminals who pose a threat to United States security. In other words, storylines about adoption, acting, or weight loss typically aren’t part of the narrative—and that’s totally fine. It’s a hour of escape each week into a world that most Americans don’t experience. Still, throughout the show’s eight-year run, the series—at its core—is about four unlikely special agents who truly are the epitome of love and family. From the bromance of Sam and Callen to the romance that is Densi, the show has succeeded because of the characters and the actors who play them.

But now, NCIS: Los Angeles is getting attention for something else. The writers are going deeper than ever before with Special Agent Kensi Blye (played by Daniela Ruah), who suffered a life-altering injury at the start of the season. Since then, we’ve seen her struggle with the mental and emotional repercussions, which have played out over the entire season—not just in a very special episode.

“It’s really a wonderful thing that they are taking the time to highlight a character as strong as Kensi,” co-star Eric Christian Olsen (Deeks) said on a recent set visit. “She’s dealing with things that on paper are almost insurmountable. Watching such a strong character navigate that—and not playing the one dimensional, like I’m going to be better in one or two episodes—[is crucial],” Olsen explained. “Hands down, it’s the best work Dani has ever done on the show. [This story with Deeks and Kensi has] been some of my favorite moments on the show ever.”

In last night’s episode (on January 8), viewers saw Kensi sit down with the team psychologist and come to grips with some tough questions—mainly, whether she’ll ever be able to return to work and be 100%. As Kensi pleaded for her job—and her future—the struggle of someone who relates so much of her self-worth to her career became all the more poignant and raw.

“This is one of the most intense and rewarding arcs I’ve played on this show,” Ruah said during a break from filming. “She is me; I am her. I really like [being able to show] emotions that I don’t normally feel.”

Ruah isn’t the only one. Millions of viewers also feel a personal connection to the character, as evidenced by the “Densi” fandom and Blye’s approach to life. So, what’s next for their beloved special agent? And what was it like for Ruah to take on this story? Here, she reveals all.
