• Only daughter of Dr. Moisés Carlos Bentes Ruah, a doctor, former Resident Chief of Otorhinolaryngology of the Boston University Hospital, in Boston, Massachussets, and his ex-wife Catarina Lia (Katia) Azancot Korn.

• Daniela has a 23 year old younger step-brother, Marcos Alberto, from her father´s second marriage to Fany Sechetter.

• She is almost entirely of Jewish ancestry, essentially Sephardite and some Ashkenazi, except for one great-great-grandmother who was Spanish. Her father is a second cousin of Dr. Joshua Gabriel Benoliel Ruah, an urologist doctor, Chief of the Jewish Community of Portugal.

• Her surname, “Ruah”, means “wind” and “breath of life” in Hebrew.

• Dance was her first passion. As a child, she had tap dancing classes in the US and, already in Portugal, ballet. Later on, (and following her teacher´s advice who considered her too “bubbly”), Daniela started having rhythmic gymnastics classes at “Dance School Ana Manjericão”, in Cascais.

• It was when she debuted in Theater in St. Julian’s High School, that Daniela realized acting was her true calling.

• Daniela has a distinguishable birthmark in her right eye, derived from the rare condition named “Nevus of Ota”, which partially covers her iris and gives her the appearance of having two different coloured eyes. However, this condition does not interfere with her vision capability in any way.

• Daniela is the President of Lusitania Productions Inc., a privately held film production and distribution company, created in 2009 and currently based in New York.

• She does not appreciate being called by her middle name, “Sofia”.

• Daniela has two dogs: Roxy (a female crossed German Shepherd, which she adopted at a kennel) and Ash (a white German shepherd).

• One of her favorite perfumes is “Bombshell”, from the renowned brand “Victoria’s Secret”.

• She was elected 3 times one of the 100 sexiest women in the world by US magazine “Maxim”, one of the most prestigious magazines in the world in its category.

• One of her favorite movies is “Kramer vs. Kramer.”

• One of her dream roles is “Pretty Woman”, originally played by Julia Roberts.

• Her favorite animation movies are “The Lion King” and “Pocahontas”.

• She would love to one day be able to star alongside Robert De Niro, Al Pacino, Javier Bardem and Penélope Cruz.

• She confessed to have been dazzled a bit when she worked closely with George Lucas in the film “Red Tails”.

• When she first moved to the US in 2007, she first stayed in New York, where she lived for two years in an apartment with fellow actress and friend Benedita Pereira, with whom she maintains a close friendship.

• Filha única do Dr. Moisés Carlos Bentes Ruah (médico, ex-director do departamento de Otorrinolaringologia do Hospital Universitário de Boston, Massachussets), e da sua ex-mulher Catarina Lia (Katia) Azancot Korn.

• Tem um meio-irmão 23 anos mais novo, Marcos Alberto Sechetter Ruah, fruto do segundo casamento do seu pai com Fany Sechetter.

• A sua ascendência é maioritariamente judaica (essencialmente Sefardita mas também Ashkenazi), com excepção de uma tetra-avó que era espanhola. O seu pai é primo em segundo grau do Dr. Joshua Gabriel Benoliel Ruah, médico urologista e Director da Comunidade Judaica de Portugal.

• O seu apelido “Ruah” significa “vento, aragem, movimento do ar, sopro de vida, hálito ou alento” em hebraico.

• A Dança foi a sua primeira paixão. Em criança, teve aulas de sapateado nos EUA e, já em Portugal, de ballet. Mais tarde, e a conselho da professora que a considerava demasiado “irrequieta”, Daniela passou a ter aulas de ginástica rítmica na “Escola de Dança Ana Manjericão”, em Cascais.

• Foi quando se estreou em Teatro no liceu St. Julian´s que Daniela se apercebeu de que a representação era a sua verdadeira vocação.

• Tem uma distinta marca de nascimento no seu olho direito, cujo nome científico é “Nevo de Ota”, que lhe cobre parte da irís e lhe dá a aparência de ter um olho de cor diferente. No entanto, a visão da actriz não é afectada por este fenómeno.
