Grab the tissues, NCIS: LA fans, this is going to be a tearjerker. In the above sneak peek of “The Queen’s Gambit,” the Sunday, Oct. 2 episode of NCIS: LA, Deeks (Eric Christian Olsen) visits Kensi (Daniela Ruah) in the hospital and things are looking a little scary for Kensi after the Syrian mission in the season premiere left her gravely injured.

Kensi hasn’t moved since mom Julia (Laura Harring) has been visiting and she’s only been seen by a nurse.

“Hey, hey baby, can you hear me? Hey, I’m here with your mom,” a distraught Deeks asks Kensi, “can you hear me?”

Julia gets nostalgic about Kensi’s upbringing. “She was like having three boys, only this one wasn’t afraid of anything,” Julia says about Kensi’s constant visits to the ER following childhood scrapes.

“Yeah, well, she’s still fearless,” Deeks says.
Meanwhile, the team investigates an abduction case and Hetty (Linda Hunt) is held in Washington, DC for questioning.

Chris O’Donnell, LL Cool J, Barrett Foa, Renee Felice Smith and Miguel Ferrer also star in the CBS drama.

NCIS: LA airs Sundays, 8 p.m. on CBS.
