Silvia (the host/presenter) says the TV Show is celebrating its first anniversary with this interview with Daniela, who was also the artist interviewed in the said TV show’s first episode. Daniela congratulates the show.
Sílvia nicely states that the actress’ life changed a lot in a year, particularly because she’s now a mother. River is the name they chose for their first son because David likes different, nonconventional names. It’s an English name because they live in the US and the boy will grow up there. She, on her side, also wanted a more traditional name and so the result was River Isaac.
Sílvia then asks her how her family reacted when they first met her husband (here Daniela smiles and says it’s very good to use that word… husband, I mean) and she explains they all got along pretty easy and fast because they’re all very open-up people. She also states her in-laws are pretty nice people and they are all a very happy family.
Then Sílvia asks her about her first words when she got River in her arms for the first time. Her only answer is… “Uau” (well, there’s probably a better interjection in English to this “uau” word, but I think you get the point).
Anyway, she repeats, “Uau” and adds “he’s got two arms and two legs and twenty fingers…” (don’t be scared, the boy has ten fingers and ten toes, we just have the same word for both, fingers and toes, in Portuguese).
She then says it was a huge emotion and says she has a picture of the first time she hold him in her arms and explains she’s already getting all emotional just to remember it. She has no words to describe it, and continues… “we spend nine months just wishing for the baby to be healthy and wandering about who he is gonna look like … well, he mostly looks like his father. He’s very active and he’s always looking around. He gives small smiles to people so they pay him attention. He doesn’t cry a lot, if he’s fed and changed, he’s very quiet.”
She restarted work six weeks after River was born. She takes him to the set with her, she’s got help from a babysitter, but he’s there also because she’s breastfeeding. She really wants to be a present mother.
Sílvia asks about what she felt when she understood her personal experiences wouldn’t affect her character and she says she’s very lucky when it comes to the people she works with… producers and all. She never hid she had plans to be a mother someday and that was never a problem or an obstacle while working in the series.
She says she would like to work in the cinema, but that she also likes to work in television – there are very good scripts and very good productions nowadays in television and it gives her a stability that is good now that she has a family.
She says she feels at home both in the US and in Portugal. She has two homes.
Her new life has new domestic obligations, Silvia asks her to describe her new routines. Daniela says that David (and she says his name with the Portuguese pronunciation…ah! funny) helps a lot. They’re a team… now, a team of three. He makes her breakfast (mmmh, lucky girl!). She says he’s a good husband and Sílvia asks if she already got used to the word “husband”. Daniela answers “yes”.
Sílvia says that she hopes to see her again in a year and that she’s happy because Daniela is the same girl she was and asks her to take a picture.
Daniela says she appreciates the invitation and the compliments.
And then, picture time – I don’t think that went very well… lol 😉
