‘NCIS: LA’: FINALE TRAUMA WILL HAVE ‘UNBELIEVABLE EMOTIONAL CONSEQUENCES’ ON DEEKS

Poor Deeks. Poor Sam. Poor everyone! The gang on NCIS: LA was up a creek without a paddle and headed for a whirlpool at the end of last season, and things will probably get worse before they get better. But here’s the upside to all of this peril: It’s going to make for can’t-miss drama, according to Eric Christian Olsen.

“It’s the best premiere we’ve ever had,” he says. “We have the most honest scene we’ve ever seen between Kensi and Deeks … we have a two-hour James Bond movie for our finale and our premiere that has consequences.”

As you’ll recall, Deeks and Sam were being tortured for information in the finale, and Olsen, who says the cast and crew are just finishing up work on episode 1, says we will see consequences to the traumatic events. “I think we’re going to see the most human reaction we’ve ever seen on this show to something like this,” he says. “I think a lot of times these things happen and there aren’t any emotional consequences and there are unbelievable emotional consequences. I don’t think he’s prepared to compartmentalize it. I don’t know if he knows how to get through it. … This is going to have a very real, long-lasting effect on him.”

Overall, he says, “It’s never been better. It’s so exciting to start off the season with this premiere.”

So are we!

What can NCIS: Los Angeles fans expect in the season premiere? –Anna
In short, “a great episode of television,” raves Eric Christian Olsen. As he elaborated for me, “This is the darkest and the most honest and the most vulnerable and the most heartbreaking episode for Deeks, but also for the other characters. The best scene that has ever been written for [Deeks and Sam] happens in the premiere; we’ve already filmed it, and [LL Cool J] is so good. And the most honest scene that Deeks and Kensi have ever had together happens in the premiere.” (I think I just gave Anna goosebumps.)

Question: Can you give as any news on when or how Deeks’ mother will appear on NCIS: LA? –EcoSarahFans
Ausiello: At some point during the upcoming Season 5, Eric Christian Olsen assures, “You’re going to meet his mom and get into his past” — which as any fan knows wasn’t idyllic. “We already know a little about the dysfunctional and catastrophic relationship with his father, but we’re going to find out a lot more about what makes this guy tick and how it affects, obviously, the relationship with Kensi and his inability to make that work.”

NCIS: LOS ANGELES (9:00-10:00 PM, ET/PT)
SEASON FINALE: Sam and his wife, Michelle, a former CIA operative, went undercover in Sidorov’s gang as Callen called upon his biggest adversary, Janvier, to intercept the sale of stolen nuclear weapons to international enemies. The mission was compromised when Janvier revealed Sam’s identity to Sidorov, putting Sam in grave danger. The cliffhanger ending found Sam and Deeks being tortured in order to reveal the true identity of Sam’s wife, while the rest of the team was unaware of their whereabouts. @NCISLA_CBS

NEW SEASON: The fifth season resumes with Sam and Deeks being tortured for information on Sam’s wife. Meanwhile, even as the team’s goal is to locate their partners, the agency’s overall operation is to apprehend Sidorov and the stolen nuclear weapons. Also, the series will mark its 100th episode early in the season.
